Unfoldings is an online sharing series featuring artists from the Artist-in-Residence Program at Vinyasa.
Twice every month, a resident artist shares insights, questions, observations, and learnings emerging from their ongoing research.
These sessions offer an opportunity to engage with a research process while it is still evolving.

Session #01: What is Somatics?
Our first Unfoldings session features Nikita, a resident artist currently exploring the field of somatics through her research at Vinyasa.
During this session, Nikita will share:
- What somatics means and where it comes from
- How somatic practices relate to the body and awareness
- Observations from the first week of her residency
- Questions that have emerged through the research process
- Early insights and learnings from her ongoing inquiry
This session is designed as an introduction to both somatics and the research journey that has begun during the residency.
No prior knowledge or experience is required.

At the end of the session, attendees will have the option to join the Unfoldings Research Network and continue following the development of artist-led research emerging from Vinyasa.
About the Artist

Nikita is currently part of the Artist-in-Residence Program at Vinyasa, where she is exploring somatics as a field of inquiry through observation, practice, documentation, and lived experience.
This sharing marks the first public glimpse into her ongoing research journey.
