ABOUT THE RESIDENCY
How many of us have work that remains unfinished? That poem half-written, a dance piece that never made it to stage, a canvas left untouched, or a film that just didn’t get edited. Sometimes life gets in the way — time, energy, or just a shift in direction.
This September, we invite you to return to that work — to finish what you started.
The Artist Escape Residency at Vinyasa Earth is a space for artists to come together with intention, focus, and community. You choose your project; we hold the space for you to bring it to completion.
WHAT’S INCLUDED
SELF-LED, YET COLLECTIVE
This residency is self-guided — your time is yours. But within that, we invite each artist to lead or facilitate a session for others. These have included movement classes, skillshares, artist talks, and collaborative experiments. It’s an invitation, not a requirement — and a space to step into being a space-holder if you’ve never tried before.
DAILY EARTH PRACTICE
Every day, we spend 3 hours working with mud — plastering, building, shaping. This grounding rhythm helps us reconnect with the earth, find presence in the body, and build trust and camaraderie with each other. Working with mud reminds us of patience, impermanence, and flow — the same qualities that bring unfinished work to completion. Artists from previous residencies have found these sessions to be meditative, healing, and deeply bonding.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
FINAL SHOWCASE
We will support you in curating a showcase of your work — whether in progress or completed — for a small public audience and fellow artists at the end of your stay. This could take the form of an open studio, a performance, an installation, or an artist circle. It’s a celebration, not a performance.
