About the Artist

Unlearn the rigid lines of a blueprint to embrace the flow of creativity.

My artistic journey has been a mix of professional discipline and self-guided curiosity. I actually started with formal training in Charcoal Portraits. That training taught me the importance of light, shadow, and patience. It gave me a technical foundation that still supports my work today. However, as I sought to relieve stress and find a meditative state, I fell in love with Zentangles and intricate pen illustrations. within my work.

There is something about the repetitive, rhythmic nature of Zentangle patterns that speaks to the architect in me, it is structured, but it also allows for a freedom that architecture rarely permits. Lately, I have been pushing my boundaries even further. I’ve started exploring
mixed media, experimenting with how the precision of pen work interacts with the fluidity of acrylics and watercolors. I am fascinated by how these different mediums can talk to each other on the same canvas.

Elemental Showcase –
“The Eternal Tether”

Medium: Pen and Watercolor on Paper
Size: 21cms x 29.7cms

The Inspiration
This artwork is born from the profound realisation that some connections defy explanation. It is rooted in the sentiment: “We recognized each other immediately.
Perhaps we came from another life where we hadn’t yet finished loving each other.” This artwork explores the concept of the soulmate, a bond that is not bound by time, geography, or mortality.

The Composition
Presented as a set, the two pieces represent the duality of our existence.

The Background Chaos: Surrounding the central union are thinner, frantic lines. These represent the noise of the world, worldly acquaintances, fleeting relationships, societal expectations, and the general chaos of life. While these lines occupy space,
they remain in the background, unable to break the integrity of the primary connection.

The Philosophy
Ultimately, this work is a visual promise. It suggests that while we navigate the chaos of the earthly plane and the mysteries of the cosmic expanse, the tether between kindred spirits remains constant. It is a tribute to the love that started in another life, survives this one, and
continues into the next.

The Earth (The left plane): The vibrant greens and yellows symbolize our current reality, the Earth. It represents the grounded, tangible world we live in today, filled with life, growth, and the present moment.

The Universe (The right plane): The deep blacks, purples, and cosmic whites represent the Universe. This is the realm of the infinite, the space “beyond,” representing past lives, the spiritual realm, and the mystery of time itself.
The Symbolism of Line
The visual narrative is driven by the interaction of lines, serving as a map of human connection.

The Bold Tether: A distinct, unwavering bold line travels through both paintings. This represents the connection between two souls. It is a bond that transcends constraints. As the eye follows the line, the entanglement grows more complex and knotted, symbolizing that as time passes, the bond does not fray; rather, it deepens. It suggests that if two souls are meant to be, their paths will inevitably tangle.
