What if nature was your collaborator?
Elemental is an 8-day, self-led art residency nestled in the quiet hills of Himachal. Artists from around the world are invited to step away from noise, deadlines, and distraction — and step into the slow intelligence of the natural world.
This residency invites you to explore biomimicry not as science, but as art.
Spend your days studying one element — a tree, a rock, a patch of moss — and translate that into your creative practice. Let it shape your rhythm, your questions, your method.
🌿 Theme: Nature as Process
Each artist will be invited to observe, spend time with, and creatively respond to a natural form — be it a plant, texture, animal, or elemental force.
You’ll ask:
- How would this tree compose a poem?
- If a boulder danced, what would its rhythm be?
- Can fog inform the way I tell stories?
This isn’t about imitation. It’s about transformation.
What can the process of nature reveal about the process of creation?
🧭 What You’ll Experience
- A quiet environment to focus on process and reflection
- No formal mentorship – just optional prompts, guidance, and a community of peers
- Daily circles for optional sharing and discussions
- Freedom to explore your medium – painting, dance, film, poetry, installation, sound, etc.
- A final evening to share works-in-process, questions, or discoveries with the group
🛖 What’s Included
- 8 days / 7 nights of accommodation in shared earthen dorm
- Breakfast meals included (vegetarian, locally sourced)
- Access to nature-rich locations and shared indoor/outdoor spaces
- Optional creative prompts, reading material, and facilitation tools
- A group of 12–15 selected artists from India and abroad

💸 Fees & Inclusions
We’ve designed this residency to be accessible and affordable.
It will include:
- Stay (shared rooms or simple private accommodation)
- Breakfast (Form the feedback, we want to be inclusive of everyones dietary commitments, so you could order and pay for yourself)
- Access to common areas, forests, and studio-like spaces
- Participation in all group activities
- Guidance on travel from major cities (Delhi/Chandigarh)
- The residency fee is starting ₹18,000 INR (~$200 USD) for the full 8 days. You can avail EARLY BIRD DISCOUNT if you complete the application process before 29 Dec 2025
